This year we are able to debone our Deer in the woods. How many has done this?

In the past we have done it at the House, throw the bones over the hill and their still there the next Summer.

I know a Guy that could bebone one leave the meat stuck to the hide I just can't remember how he did it.

Just seems it will be easier getting out.

Howdy Mr. Blue Smoke,
In our younger days, would always bone out our Moose, Caribou and Grizz when backpacking. Regs now prohibit this in some areas.

It's legal and pretty common up here. Just lay back the skin from the top side and use that as a "table cloth" for the meat you debone off the top side. Bag that up and put it in your back, then flip the deer and do the same for the other side. With a little practice, it doesn't take more than half an hour to debone a deer, and that's a real plus in bear country.

Our moose and elk are too big for flipping, so you work from the top down, but that layer of hide you folded back in the first place is still a pretty handy spot for keeping everything clean while you debone it.
