Talk Me Out of Buying a Pedersoli 20 Gauge Shotgun

I already have the Howdah pistol by Pedersoli. There was no practical purpose for buying it.

However the fun factor broke the fun meter!

Because the pistol is a 20 gauge, I’ve been tempted to get the Pedersoli 20 Gauge shotgun.

If I do that, I may take up rabbit hunting again. That means I’ll have to get a beagle.

I’ve owned lots beagles and they are the best dogs on earth. As some of you know the fun factor on hunting with a hound goes up exponentially when you got more than one on a cottontail’s scent. However, I don’t want to start training and cleaning up after a dog again.

Did I mention how much of a chick- magnet a beagle puppy is at the park? At my age I don’t need that. Besides they pay more attention to the puppy than they do me. The dog forgets his place and my feelings get hurt.

So can everyone see what sort of trouble a new shotgun will get me into?

I need help. Please talk me out of it.

Did CVA offer a double barrel 20 guage?
The one I own is just like the only ones I've seen advertised in old Dixie Gun Works catalogs. It is a 12 guage.

Well... nope, I got nothing. I’ve owned two of the Pedersoli shotguns, thought they were high quality, a 12 and 10. My current twice barreled carabiner is a Pietta built Navy Arms 12 bore and a dandy upland gun. If I come across a 20 I’ll snap it up.

WRT the beagle, I agree 100%, they are the greatest, sweetest, dogs. Bullheaded, tenacious, striking a hot scent, they absolutely personify joy... I miss my little hound...

I had three beagles once. It was the sweetest music to one’s ears when they caught the scent.

I have one of those sleep machines that plays raindrops, rainforests, beach sounds and crickets.

I wish they would make one that plays beagles barking or howling. I need to find a box of Kleenex now. So don’t judge me.

I've been trying to find negative reviews of the Pedersoli but keep coming up with enabling videos. I'm beginning to think that Pedersoli has been subjecting me to subliminal suggestions.

Capandball is nothing but an enabler. I'm not wanting to get a flintlock but by gosh, he makes one drool when he shows close ups of that shotgun!

Had a few minor metal to wood fit issues on my 12 that I corrected. Also had to clear a bit of wood in the lock mortise.

Not much. I do some minor gunsmith work myself. Besides, if I got it, it's for shooting and taking afield. It will probably get a few battle scars along the way.

There was only one imperfection on my Howdah pistol that was easy to fix. The night is not getting any easier. I keep going over to DGW and looking at that low resolution photo of the shotgun they have for sale.

I don't have internet filters to block out the shotgun porn and I drank too much coffee. I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Does it have fixed open, cylinder bore chokes? If so, can't help you. If it has fixed co destruction chokes or changeable chokes, Don't buy it. You don't need the pain in the neck of getting wads and such past restriction chokes, especially not while trying to do load development and train a new puppy at the same time.
If the girls are that interested in the puppy, maybe one can help you train the pup, and clean and cook the rabbits?

However......A double gun is just another barrel to clean, I'd get something cool like a Kashtuk Arms .62 Fowling Piece in flint and do it like our Forefathers did.

I have a flintlock rifle in .45 caliber on order. This one has to be percussion because that is what my Howdah pistol uses for the ignition system.

I have to admit the fowling pieces are really classy!
