June 28th through July 5th, 2008!
The Jed Smith Mountain Men would like to invite West coasters to come attend our 30th annual Rendezvous in Smith River, California (along the 101 - the coast highway just below the Oregon border. For details & maps check out http://www.jedsmithmountainmen.com/
Our trail walks are renowned for both the challenge & beauty of the scenery. There will competitions for rifles & smoothbores, pistols, fun shoots, archery, & the knife & hawk. Traders row will be open for both established & blanket traders. There is a primitive camp & modern camping in separate areas.
Come have a great week!

Thanks for the input and especially the pictures. We used to live in Oregon and pictures from there are most appreciated. I always appreciate those who let us know about rendezvous's with the pictures.
:hatsoff: :hatsoff:

Sven,

What's mid-week look like? dont think i can get there before jul.1 or 2.
thanks :v

It's looking excellent! We will be in full swing, with the 4th being an easy day. Be sure to try the Archery too as we have both trail walks & longshoots. Actually because of some confusion on the part of the Gun Club we rent the site from, they scheduled an event over ours for the first week-end. Thus you can set up but Traders row won't open till Sunday afternoon & Shooting commences Monday morning. Sorry my reply took a little time, but I've been working like a demon trying to get things ready for folks.

Thanks Sven. me too. ben working like a madman to get that week. i'll look for you when i get there. cheers, :v

Tall trees is one of the vous I routinly attended when living in CA (been 8 yrs since I moved). The location is probably one of the best places Ive been to, the walk and the other shoots were challenging.

Shinin' times yessireebob!

Keep yer powder dry,

D.

Thank you Dvan for those kind words. I'm not sure if I got the chance to meet you Diggler, but I barely made it back to camp for dinner - I was running doing score-keeping for so many groups. I was walking non-stop for at least 9 hours everyday. I met a lot of great folks. Next week I should get the website updated with the first batch of pictures.

Despite, the fires, gas prices, screw-ups on the part of the gun club we were renting the site from, it was a great event. I think the overcast helped boost shooting scores early week because the lighting was so even. For those who've never been to our rendezvous, the courses wind through the redwood forest & hills and some shots have shadows during part of the day that make them more challenging. The archery events were great with 50% more targets on the Archery trail as well as a long shoot & a clout shoot (only one lost arrow). The infamous ramrod thru a tree was recovered & turned into a memorial after several years. The vendors were great overall and there were many of them who managed to skirt around the fires in NoCal.
