I have a Thompson Center Renegade with a 1:28 ( I think) twist barrel. It shoots exceedingly well with TC 470 gr maxi balls, or maxi hunter ( the labeling is worn of the boxes makingit hard too read) and a 75 gr charge of 2f 777. Well, these bullets are very hard to find these days. Does any one know of a good heavy weight replacement? The barrel is an older Green Mountain.

They are Maxi-Hunter's in the 470 gr. .50 cal. size. Make's a terrific watermelon-destroyer with about 100 gr. of 3F :shocked2: .

I can get them from my local gun shop that sells T/C products. He special orders for me my favorite Maxi's...the .50 cal., 370 gr. Maxi-Balls that we use in competition with a 70 gr. charge of 3F. Any good, smaller shop will do this for a repeat customer, it's how they stay in business! So you don't need a replacement for something that you already know shoots good, you just need a reliable source that's willing to special-order these over-size, only you & me want to shoot-em cannon-ball conicals :winking: .

When I put in a special order for the Maxi's, I buy 5 or more boxes at a time. Although I don't ask for it, my guy usually gives me a volume discount as well.

IF they are still being manufactured by T/C, anyone who sells any T/C products can order them for you through their wholesale supplier. Good luck with the search and keep the watermelon in mind :haha: .
