FYI...we've seen posts during the past few months about an apparent run of TC Hawken stocks that were produced with some out-of-spec inletting conditions.
I just bought a factory new .54cal TC Hawken percussion from a dealer and when I went to swap a flint barrel and lock onto it, I discovered I had one of those stocks myself.
Like others had described, when the barrel hooked up with the tang, it was so far back that the vent hole was at the rear edge of the pan...in addition, the patchbox on this particular rifle was not centered in the right side of the buttstock...it was 1/2" high off-center. Sent it to TC and immediately received a replacement stock with perfect flint vent-to-pan alignment.
I don't like the occasional inconvenience of sending a product back to a company any more than the next guy, but I can't imagine any company standing behind their products any better than Thompson Center does.
