Boy, you sure won't get me to talk you out of it!

After carrying that sweet rifle into the field just once, the others in your rack are going to wonder when they'll next get a turn.

PM me info on where ya found it. I will quickly do research and make sure it is a good deal. If not I will buy it myself to protect you from the sale

Yea, I love that concept also... makes for a great justification of the collection!

Just a side note, if you pick up the TC and find that you love it, I know where you would have a ready market for your Cabelas Hawkins...

Just a helping enabler...

Dunno if it's true for all Big Boars, but certainly so for both of mine. And something you may really like:

Both of mine are really "forgiving" about powder charges. It seems like no matter where you go up and down the charge scale, they always shoot well. I'm just not smart enough with the ruler to measure consistent differences in group size from one charge to the next. They shoot as well with 40 grains of 3f, 80 grains of either 2f or 3f and 120 grains of 2f, my preferred loads for different uses. I could just as well use loads 10 grains on either side of those without any change in results. Guys who have been fooled into believing 1:48 twists are some kind of "compromise" have never gotten acquainted with the Big Boar.

BTW- I still can't promise the same for yours, but both of mine are in love with .570 balls, ticking and TOW's mink tallow. They seem to be pretty democratic about conicals too, with all I've tried shooting really well so long as there's a greased wad under them. I don't really see the need for them in my hunting, but if you want them for your pigs there's reason to be happy.

With a 48" twist the Lyman minies are short enough in over all length that with a flat base plug for 1 1/16" they should work like sugar loaf bullets. Just in case you need to take out a Russian sub off the coast.

I missed on buying a TC Big Boar, NIB, 20 yrs ago in Massachusetts. I regretted not buying it. I was on the search for 18 yrs here in Arizona , and finally found a perfect example at a great price. So far it's seen use on targets and jackrabbits. I need to get my elk tag.

I may be preaching to the choir (as I often do!), but since you live in the desert take that gem out for some informal long range shooting. The balls, but especially the conicals throw up a great big gout of dirt and dust when they land, making it easy to see where you're hitting. More like mortar fire, but it's great fun to poke at rocks and things way out there. No sense in it other than liking bangs, smoke and dust clouds, but it's more fun to me than ten days of poking holes in paper. Yahooooooo!!!!

I wouldn’t hesitate. Buy it!
You’ll regret it later if you don’t
I had one. Sold it as I needed cash. My only redemption is I came accross a new unfired .58 Green Mountain drop in barrel for my TC .54 Hawken.

Interestingly enough I just downsized a .58 out of my collection that will be interesting to you. It was a TC Renegade with a factory recoil pad and did not have Big Boar stamped on the barrel. Best I can figure was it was a gun out of TC's custom shop back in the day. My brother saw it and just had to have it so it now belongs to him.

If you have not bought it already do it! I have been looking for a number of years to no avail. Let us know how she shoots if you do buy.

I came into a "Big Boar" in an unconventional way. I had a 50 cal Renegade that I ruined the barrel on. I had the barrel rebored to 58 cal with a 1:70 twist. So I guess I kind of wound up with a Big Boar rifle. It shoots round balls great and sure is a joy to handle and carry in the field. That 58 cal ball also makes a big impression on game. I recommend them.

Just got one. Thought… I’m a Big fan of my .58 Double barrel Kodiak, I’ll like the Big Bore. Well I Don’t at all, Not one Bit. I Absolutely am overwhelmed with the rifle. I looked for it, and found it shortly after… then another I passed on in which the owner decided to keep.
So I Have shot this with a REAL 445gr Bullet and 75 grains of 2F. I havnt had any time to try any other combination. However a Patched ball is In my plans…. I feel very confident about that. The Real Bullet shot great out to about 75 yards, yet it was dropping substantially, even with a +2” 50 Yard zero.
Why am I writing this? Because I am looking for more information from those who own this rifle. What was your combination and can you elaborate on the results with it on Game animals. Distance and Drop of trajectory is helpful.

Thank you
