TC Hawken Problem

I have a TC Hawken 50cal percussion. The set trigger appears to have stopped working. Tried to adjust it according to directions in the manual to no avail! Any suggestions before I send it back to TC??

Call them on the phone first. It might be something very simple and they could talk you through it on the phone. That would save you some mailing and time.

What is the actual problem...
It won't set?

Misunderstanding...I was trying to find out if the problem was that the set trigger "wouldn't set", or if it did set, that it "wouldn't fire".

But the first part of your answer clarifies it...it's not setting.

The only thing I could suggest would be to back the adjusting screw way out (all the way out if you want to, won't hurt anything) then try to set the rear trigger.

If it still won't set, then it sounds like the tip of the set trigger or the latch on the front trigger that it latches onto may have work or broken off so it can't engage.

If however, with the adjusting screw out, it DOES latch up, then put the screw back in and like the manual says, turn it in until the trigger just barely releases, then back it out a turn and it should be fine.

I tried what you suggested and it still wwon't set. Should I atempt to remove the trigger mechanism? Or just call TC and let them deal with it?

 

You won't hurt anything by taking the trigger out of the gun and looking at it. It should be a one-piece unit... you shouldn't have to worry about springs and such exploding everywhere or anything like that.

I have some pictures of my Lyman GPR trigger in this thread if you'd like to see it. I'm sure the trigger on your T/C is very similar. You should be able to spot nearly immediately what the problem is if you remove it.

Well I gotta tell ya....you guys are great. I looked at the pics you posted and removed the trigger and guess what....a little bit of dirt in the mechanism! Sprayed some ballistol and she's as good as new!
