Morning,

I'm looking for a TC Renegade Breech plug. 1" of course. Flint preferred but I would consider a percussion. If you have a loose plug or a roached out barrel with a good plug that you are willing to part with please let me know and how much you would like to have for it.

I know that Track of the Wolf has them in stock but they do not have the model with the TC thread and have no idea if they will be getting any more. They have the 3/4 x16 tpi Renegade plugs in stock but that will require me to re-tap my barrel.... Plan B

Thanks,
O.R.

model with the TC thread
Assume you are looking for the 11/16-20 thread? Got one out right now, but it already has a home picked out. I may have an extra percussion one, but the threads for the nipple are completely gone (original owner drilled out a stuck nipple with a 5/16” drill and was a little off target. The last few I had were made by Green Mountain Rifle I believe. You may want to check with them.

Hi SD,

Yes sir I'm looking for the TC 11/16 x20 BP. I just gave Green Mountain a call and they went out of the breech plug business about 5 years ago then sold out all of their existing inventory. They deal in barrels only now.

I've had some very good leads from folks here on the forum and contacted Cain's Outdoors and the Gun Works without any luck. That spare one that you have may be salvageable with a helicoil or by a good welder but that's a bit more than I want to get into for this project.

Thanks I do appreciate the lead

Did you ask GM who supplies their breech plugs? Another option is to make your own flint breech plug, if you have access to a lathe and a Bridgeport Mill. I only did it once, but it was pretty easy starting with round stock. Don’t remember it taking too much more than an hour or so.

Hi SD,

If I understood the gentleman correctly at Green Mountain they manufactured their own breech plugs in house.

I lost access to a full machine shop when I retired and I'm not equipped to do it in my home shop.

Thanks,
O.R
