I am interested in making a small priming horn. Has anyone made one and who can tell me what and where to buy what I need. I would like to use the 3grain spout at the end of the horn, Thanks. The hungry hunter..

I use the type I think you're referring to and think they're great...keep them tethered in a shirt pocket.

The one made of horn was made for me by the previous owner of October Country, using the items sold there at OC...so even though ownershio has changed hands, I assume you might find what you need there.

So in making a priming horn I can get a horn kit from one of the Blackpowder suppliers, cut it down to size and add the plug and the brass spout, or I can get a polished horn from say Dixie GW and purchase the items I need to finih the horn..

Call them and tell them what you want you make, they will get you what you need.

The big one in my picture is to fat to fit between the flint and frizzen. Skinny is much better.

You got any goats in your area. Their horns are usually smaller and shaped nice to fix between the hammer and frizzen. Small Spanish Goat horns work great.
Fox

I have a friend who made some priming dispensers out of old hollow table knife handles. Go to Goodwill/St. Vinnies and find a knife for a buck or so, cut the blade off, drill and tap that end for the spring loaded dispenser. You can also drill small holes in the other end and/or solder a loop for attaching to yor bag strap.
