...what is the difference in the following terms:

1) Traditional Muzzleloading?

2) Primitive Muzzleloading?

3) Purist Muzzleloading?
 
1. Somewhat easy with today's materials

2. harder with today's materials

3. impossible :crackup: :crackup:

The above answers are in regard to period correctness.
 
I'll take a swing...

1) Traditional Muzzleloading?
weapons and equipment that is pattern of traditional periods

2) Primitive Muzzleloading?

Flintlock and PRB or conical. I only really consider a Flint or earlier primitive.

3) Purist Muzzleloading?

Strictly era specific weapons and equipment.
 
In the archery world the Trad Archers and the Primitive archers coexist pretty well."Trad" is accepted as the longbow or recurve shooters with fiberglas bows.Carbon or aluminum arrows fall into this catagory too."Primitive" archers shoot selfbows,or sinew backed bows with wood arrows.
We sorta see the same thing here with our muzzleloaders.Most of us don't start with a custom rifle and braintan buckskins.We learn as we go and the more you learn the more we try to improve,time and funds allowing...
