I am a CW reenactor in Dallas Texas area.I am interested in the mt / Plains/ pioneer 1840 era, particularly since I have a young daughter, & yrs old. CW reenacting is mostly about the battles and am looking for something more family oriented. does anyone out there have any suggestions? Thanx

Tug-O-War across the Trinity?
Jack I'm over in Fort Worth, actually Saginaw but most people can't find it on a map. I just got a T/C Haken and have finally accumulated enough stuff to start shooting. I ain't ready for reenacting buy would love to come and see. I'll follow this thread to see what comes up.
I don't know where people around here go for this, but I am looking forward to getting to hunt and shoot in the LBJ Grasslands again. When I was a kid centerfire and rimfire were OK. Now it's shotgun, bow or bp only. There is a lot of room for reenacting/rondy's (I can't spell it either).

i know of a couple of people in the b/p club that go to a rendezvous up that away. i know it is a tri state rondy and i think it is in oklahoma i will try to find out more and get back to you
p.s.
someone reactivated an old post of mine i had forgotten about. the post is rendezvous on this forum seeif that is any help

Hi Brushbuster and pepperbelly! They moved my post so it took me awhile to find it! The LBJ grasslands allow BP hunting? I know where it is although I have never been there. I assumed from the name it was just a big field of grass. How would you get close enough for a shot in a prairie environment?

Try looking for rondy up near Denton I think it is held near Caddo, Lake and the Oklahoma border. It's to far from here so I threw the info away. Might try Texas Parks they may have some info on it being it's on land they control.

The LBJ Grasslands are about 30k acres of woods and grasslands, small lakes and creeks.
Way back when you could hunt/shoot anything. In the '70s there were a few incidents and close calls from hunters shooting too close to each other- it was just too crowded.
Now it's primitive weapons only- muzzleloaders, archery and shotgun. Some sections are archery only, some shotgun only. Centerfire weapons other than shotguns and rimfire weapons are all banned.
I haven't been back in years, so I don't know which sections have what weapons allowed. There is a Game Warden's office in Decatur, just off Hwy.287 on the west side of town. They have maps and are very friendly. I met one of the game wardens last week. He was very nice, but seemed young. That can't just be me getting older.
