20190104_150140.jpg We had a pretty good weekend in the Hill country.
I took this fellow at 93 yards with the Lyman Great Plains, 70gr fffg, .535 round ball, .015 cotton patch, mink lubed. Shot went all the way through, broke 2 ribs going in and took a 1" piece out of a rib on the other side. I found pieces of bone 10 yards from the hit. He ran about 30 yards into the oak trees where it was a real pain getting him out. By the time I found him it was dark, no moon and a fox was standing nearby waiting to see what I would do. I popped one off at him with the 54 plains pistol, but missed. I will use the excuse that I could not see the sights very well while holding a light in one hand and shooting with the other. I know it's an excuse, but it's all I have. Next year I am going to load the pistol with #2 shot. It was fun trying!

Marvelous hunt for you, Griz. Happy for your success.
This goes to show, even with a PRB they don't all drop in their tracks. That is a bonus when it happens, though. Pretty buck and scenery to hunt in.
