this would have been something to have back in 80....were you there back then....they say it's not suppose to be too bad ifin it goes this time....hope it's not going to be too bad this time and hope you have a plan out of there...............bob

Squirrel,

Don't need to move there - it'll be coming to you soon enough!

bob,

Yah, I'm probably in some of those old news shots of Yakima they show each year on May 18th with the street lights on at noon... what a mess :shake:

Musketman - that's the sulfur you smell

Thar she BLOWS! ( too bad the web cam is getting too many hits to show it... :( )

Webmaster Update - October 01, 2004 at 4:58 pm PDT - Our apologies to all who had difficulty accessing the VolcanoCam during today's eruption. The Forest Service national web server became overloaded. But don't worry!! The VolcanoCam and its own web server continued to function and we have all the images from the eruption. We will make them available next week.

Better go help em, upgrade, Claude! :)

You aren't in any danger where you live are you? It looks like all the ash is headed right for us. We are about 60 miles south of Eugene, Ore. I figure the ash will make it this far at least. You take care.

LEJ,
glad to hear you will be safe!!! from what i've seen on the news the so called experts don't really know what that puppys going to do. stay covered!!

snake-eyes :relax: :peace: :)

Mount St. Helens Update, October 3, 2004, 8:00 A.M.

Current status is Volcano Alert (Alert Level 3); aviation color code RED

Overnight (about 3 am) there was a tremor burst that lasted about 25 minutes. No eruptive plume was detected as a result of this tremor. Following the tremor, seismic activity dropped, but now is at a level similar to that before the tremor burst. Earthquakes are occurring at a rate of 1-2 per minute with maximum earthquake magnitudes of about M3. All earthquake locations remain shallow. During yesterday

I'm moving there in two weeks.
Hope she don't blow her top.

Come on up! We've been having "Steak & Shake" for dinner for the past week. Although I'm about 30+ air miles from her, we've felt several of the tremors, and got to see her blow her top on Friday, although it was more suspect than fact, until I got back home and saw it on TV.

Deer and Elk are crossing Hwy 12 like crazy! It seems they know something, but then they tend to do that anytime there is a small tremor.

Fishing on the Cowlitz and Tuttle is great this time of year, but I didn't see a boat on Friday.

NWCN (Northwest Cable News) has had great coverage on this, including a monitor inside the dome, which is owned and monitored by UW.
Scientist are predicting this one to be as little as 200 times less than the one in 1980. Hope they are right!
You can't appreciate the size of this mountain until you've spent three days crossing it, and that is after the "big one" in 1980.

LEJ,
still not getting any live webb cam. not fixed or
what???? i guess as long as you are on the webb everthing
is ok! and that's the good part :imo:
hope you and yours are safe and sound. sounds to me
like they are still not sure what will happen.

snake-eyes :peace: :) :peace:

LEJ...Things don't look so good this morning. I guess U dub has lost their monitoring equipment, and the "dome" has grown to 150' tall...and growing.
As I'm watching KOMO right now, they are saying it is still not expected to be anywhere near what happened in 1980, but IMO any eruption is a bad eruption in that beautiful area.
I grew up taking school vacations to Spirit lake, and had often thought that when I retired that was the place for me, but that was in 1950. I have not had that thought since 1980.
Hope all this comes to an end shortly, and without loss of lives, and property. I suspect those lucky enough to draw the "Margret" or "St.Helens" area for Elk this year, are sitting on the edge of their seat...Will there be a Margret area after this?
Respectfully, Russ

Perhaps we should apees the mountain in a period correct way, LEJ, find a virgin and throw her in... :haha:

I didn't say what time period the period correct way was set in... :winking:

Webcam seems to be working now - I missed the big poof this time, being at work, but the ash is supposed to be heading our way so I'll see it first hand soon enough

Sorry MM but volcanos no longer accept gender specific sacrifices for fear of ACLU law suits...
