Ever since I built my .36cal turkey rifle I have been unable to draw a tag. Prior to building the rifle I drew a tag every time I put in. looks like we'll be eating wild turkey for Thanksgiving, God willing!

Congratulations and good luck on the hunt. So you have a draw for turkey tags in South Dakota?

That seems odd for me here in New England. In Massachusetts we have a deadline to send in five bucks for a turkey permit which allows you to take two bearded birds in the spring or one of any sex in the fall.

In North Dakota we put in for a drawing for each season so one for spring and one for fall so you could get 2 turkey each year potentially. when I was a kid in Texas we would just get 4 or 5 tags with our license automaticly, that sure was nice. Well so far We have tags for Elk, doe , buck and a turkey. Won't be hunting bear this year, but will in 2011 for sure. Can't wait.
