Has anyone purchased a Hawken Shop kit? How good are they in two aspects (1) quality and ease of finishing and (2) how accurate are they as a reproduction of an original Hawken -- as they claim? Of course, the question arises as to who you all think might make a better kit at the same or a better price. I'm really looking for a kit that is dead-on for a late Hawken rifle that is made from quality componets.
Thanks

If I were looking to build a 100% accurate Hawkin I would start with Don Stith as Riverrat Suggested.

I have not seen a Hawken Shop gun, (that I know of). I have seen a couple of Stiths Hawkens, lovely, especially like the Hawken squirrel rifles, long and slender. :: :: And most correct.

I'm not familiar with the kits, but I have bought parts from them 15 yrs ago and have no complaints with quality or service. Wayne Robecheau (sp?) in Nebraska used to and may still sell very detailed blueprints for a late Hawken. inexpensive - about $35 for 7 large sheets. Lots of hand and machine-work involved in scratch building, but you may enjoy that! You'll have greater control over your finished project if you build from the ground up. Just depends on what result you want! E-mail me for his address.
