I forgot to give credit where it is due...

Starting from the top, Rich McKinney Schuetzen Gun Co of Colorado fullstock Gemmer 1874 Sharps in 40/65. Middle is a Judge Resley from Fort Stockton Texas .50cal half stock with 7 groove rifling. So the caliber of that is a little off. Have to slug it to get the true bore diameter. The judge hand rifled these the old fashioned way. Last but not least a John Bergmann fullstock, flint early Hawken in .54 cal.

Good Bless the Gunmakers! Time for me to grab my hawken and head into the woods.

Wow, those are beautiful. I bet they shoot as good as they look, too. :hatsoff:

Hey do you have anymore pics of that fullstock hawken that I could see?
IM wanting to build a custom gun for hunting and need some pics to help me out.

Thanks guys, I will take some pics of the Bergmann for you. What in particular are you after?

Thanks,

Billy

The front half, muzzle.
Just like to have some pics of one for future ref. on a build.

B-Lo Those are beauts! :hatsoff:

You mite want to talk to John L. Hinnant another member on here ... as he knew quite well and worked with Judge Resley!

Hi Dave,

AWESOME would be great to talk to someone else that knew him. The person that sold me my first muzzleloader had hooked me up with that Hawken. I should clarify that the rifle itself was built by someone whos name is lost to history but the barrel was rifled by the Judge and has his name on it. A sharon fullstock kit in .58 was built by the judge in his later years and it shows but its still my pride and joy. Took a black bear with it in New Brunswick Canada back in 2000 with it.

This one has only been hunted with a few times. Been meaning to slug it to get a true bore diameter but never get around to it.

Thanks for the info and if you are friends with the Judges old friend please tell him to drop me a line!

Thanks again,

Billy

Also I'll post some pics of the nosecap of the Bergmann.
