It started as a great day at the range. Smoke was flying, and every shot was hitting in the black (a success I fully credit to all of you who have helped me on this forum). Two tables down a guy showed up with a shiny black case with a very shiny black slug gun, scope, and all the fixin's. As he left, the range officer made me feel pretty good, "Hey, you're shooting much better groups with that 'old thing' than that guy was, and for a couple thousand dollars less." I was happy and loving the attention. Then, just as my head was beginning to swell... SNAP... I cracked my ramrod.  :cursing:
I am such a moron... :(

At a wedding, the glasses used for a toast ar ceremonially destroyed so they can never be used to a lesser purpose. You used that ramrod to outshoot a modern gun, then use destroyed the ramrod so it can never be defeated in a match again. We're all proud of you, and salute your sacrifice. :bull:

That's the shooting gods way of keeping you in check.

I love to hear stories of muzzleloaders outshooting modern guns.
I have had many range sessions where I have delivered better groups than more than one guy shooting a scoped centerfire or in%&*! muzzleloader. It's a very satisfying feeling.

Funny you should mention that... I had just been talking to the Mrs before I left for the range about how I "needed" to get a stout range rod at some point. I think I have met her skepticism w/ some evidence at last. :haha:

If you need more, I was at a Chunk Gun match and a nationally known shooter dry balled his rifle.
They tried blowing it out to no avail. So had to use a steel range rod with a pulling screw to get it out. Since they normally patch very tight it took two of the biggest men on the grounds and a pair of vicegrips on the rod to pull that ball.
The shooter went on to take second place in the match.
