The movie The Revenant is supposed to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray today!

Checked Amazon online after I saw the commercial about the release on TV. They have it available starting today.

Might add it to my Jeremiah Johnson and The Mountain Men movie's.

Respectfully, Cowboy :hatsoff:

My dvd came in yesterday an I watched it last night. I like it. I think if you watch it with its intended purpose its a good movie. If you watch it with the intent of picking it apart as far as hc/pc accuracy then of course you will find flaws cause its HOLLYWOOD after all

Did the small screen do the movie justice?
Had to go see it a second time in the movie house=(big screen)
..sure made me wanna paddle the Missouri..and go hike up a couple of bluffs.

Wearing hearing aids leaves me needing close captioning for movies/tv so I did not see this in a theater and was eager for it to be released on DVD. Got it yesterday and maybe something was lost going from theater to 65" HD. Grew up in country similar to the movie settings so was not blown away by that and I just couldn't get past the fake bear, the immunity to blood loss, infection, falls from cliffs and hypothermia. Nice to see flintlocks in action but it would have been nicer to see guns at full cock, frizzens closed, etc. Took me two sittings to get through the whole movie. Don't see how it even got nominated much less winning three Oscars. Glad I rented it instead of buying.

I bought the bluray of this yesterday and I must admit I really liked it. I didn't watch it for HC/PC stuff. I watched it for entertainment and it had plenty of that. I'm not a Decrappyhole fan, but he did pretty good in the movie. Once in a while a blind pig finds an acorn. LOL

I was really surprised that my wife really liked it too. She was amazed at the bear attack scene and how they did that. I know the character suffered many things that would have killed a person, but that's entertainment. I just wish they had stuck to the real Glass story and didn't feel a need to revise his history. His real story was worthy of being told without artistic license.

I went out trekking through two local big box stores yesterday and they were all sold out of copies for this movie! I have not seen it yet and it looks like it may be a while before I get the chance!

I need closed caption too so haven't been to a theater for years.
I rented it in Blue-Ray yesterday.
I'll be waiting until the DVD is on sale at Walmart for 5.99 before I own it.
Over all it was a good flick, but I kind of lost it when he was running the horse away from the Arikara using a semiautomatic flintlock pistol then survived the cliff fall.
After he helped Powaqa escape the story line was predictable,
It was good to see that Arnie Grape can still accept direction instead of being stuck on himself, to his credit he pulled it off..

yeh, I need to buy or rent & watch it again just to count how many times that flinter went semi-auto on him. kept expectin' it to go full-auto & empty a 30 clip. also like to see if I can figger out the secret to gettin' that big flash & bang from a flintlock with the frizzen already in full-forward position.

but, it was a fairly entertainin' movie. woulda been better without the cartoon bear.

Two GREAT minds thinking alike,,,,,Everyone over looked the fact ,as reported in the book,Hugh Glass was reported to have crawled naked and it was in the summer not winter,,,,
It is Hollywood, Martha, get a Snickers and bag of over priced popcorn with butter and enjoy it for what it is.....
Going to the movies to see true facts about History is about as accurate as when we set through High School History class.

I bought mine at Target, but they also had copies at Best Buy, and Walmart. Good luck. I believe you'll find a copy.

I was pretty proud of my wife (not a savvy gun person) when she noticed that he was getting more than one shot out of his pistol during the fight. She missed the numerous times guys were shooting flintlocks at half cock, but did catch the multi shot pistols. :haha:

Revision for movie:..Everybody gets off one shot and doesn't have time to blow down barrel with tube or reload so all good guys dead in ambush fights with savages and Mama Grizzly kills Glass and anyone else that might of survived, including all of the savages! ..... THE END!____ Go home! ...................end of movie time!

:rotf:

There will never be a movie made that will satisfy the "purists" who will criticize all aspects of the film's authenticity. Personally, I'm just happy that someone has produced a movie that takes place during the Muzzleloading era. We could use more of them.

That's a pretty good way to look at any movie these days. As per American Rifleman mag. the movie was factual only as follows:

There was a Hugh Glass in 1823.
He was mauled by a bear.
It was cold.
He lived.
