This isn't my idea
If you think your patch thickness is under size, cut some paper (news paper is .001) and place a piece over the patch. Now you have slightly greater thickness. Try that out and if not go with two pieces. When you are happy with your rifles shooting, go out and buy the total thickness pillow ticking or other cotton material for your right patch. :hmm:

Well that sounds like a good way to figure out what your gun likes but IMO the newspaper would not compress the same as lubed patch material. I think there would be some difference in the way the rifle shoots with say a .010 patch and .002 of newspaper as opposed to a .012 patch.

All you can do is try and see.
