After seeing the other guys post i went and punched some more holes into my strap, a good 6" worth to bring the bag up.

Feels a lot more comfortable now. Should i leave the horn where it is or bring the horn up a little higher? I have 3 holes left, about an inch worth of adjustment.

It looks good where it is or you could try it that extra inch higher. The whole idea is to be able to control horn and bag movement when you lean over, are running, etc. The relationship of the bag position and the bag position also looks good.

Hey Kentuckywindage, I don't know if you noticed or not but your dog layin on the couch behind you has died! :shocked2: I think he's beggin to bloat look his front leg has done raised up! :rotf: :rotf:
Try your bag there and see if you like it, no one can tell you what's comfortable for you. If you can reach in the bag and lay your hands on what your looking for without choking yourself it's probably about right. The idea of the horn is that it's up and not swinging around like wild banzshe and yet you can bring it up and take care of business without having to take off your shoulder. Right is what works for you.

I often carry mine pretty high when hunting. When I was horseback a lot I carried it as high as possible.
Just shooting at matches etc it can be lower. Its preference.

How tall are you Kentucky? I think the strap patterns in TC Albert's book seem to be to long and I'm going start shortening them a bit.

Im 6'3 and roughly 160lbs.

That darn dog is always sleeping comfortably. Some of the pictures i've taken of that dog are just unreal. He even uses a pillow at night too.

Bag feels comfortable but i am going to go take a hike and see how it feels when im walking through the bush.

I thought they were longish too but it was easier to punch holes than to splice onto the strap.

I wear mine about the same as the pic above and it works ok.

all I can say is put it on and take a walk, my bags are higher than where I thought they should be but getting out there wll tell you where you want them, there is no hard fast rule as to what is right for you.

Worked out nicely for me. I took a walk, fired 16 shots out of my .54 GPR flinter and everything was comfortable and easy to reach. GPR did excellent today.
