Addicted well I have seen them come and I have seen them go most that come into the sport have been inspired by the Hollywood movies and over 50% leave with in 5 years mostly due to money or marriage. Off the 50% left most are competitive shooters more so the rifle men who reach a certain standard and cannot raise their standard so they pack it in and take another sport. The only shooters addicted are those that come from shooting generations of their family who cut their first tooth on a card wad and grew up with shooting ,these are the true muzzle loaders .

You are not truly one of us until you contemplate buying wall hangers by the case.
That is how my addiction started. I had a fireplace and thought a M/L rifle would look nice hanging on the wall. Got to looking at the newly acquired antique rifle and started wondering what would it be like to fire a muzzle loader. Didn't want to chance shooting the old rifle. While on loan outside my home district, came across a coworker who had an FFL. I bought a T/C .45 calibre percussion Hawken kit.
I didn't know anyone who had ever shot one, so I read and re-read the T/C manual. Finally found a place that sold the needed materials to be able to shoot the new rifle.
40 years later and still hooked on the smell of smell of black powder smoke.

Don't despair. I've heard of friends of the addicted hosting an "intervention" for a shooter with a case of severe blackpowderitis. If your loved ones become concerned then thats a possible option. But it never works.....Sorry.

I guess I'm OK. My wife encouraged this purchase.:p

I wish I knew how to edit the title of this thread to...This Black Powder stuff is Fun...

I got a decent deal on this rifle, IMO, and to be honest I really don't care what anyone else thinks. I'll shoot it and have fun.

I'm right there with you. I like the guns I have. I make my accouterments, pour my round balls and knap my flints. This all adds to the fun.
