Yeah, my old hunting territory. One of my kids is still hunting in Idaho. If he was a real hardcore dude he’d sleep under the treefall!? I think he might pass for hardcore. What beautiful country.
For those from other places - In the American West there are wilderness areas that have been set aside for recreation and hunting. They don’t allow any motorized vehicles within wilderness, even for maintenance. There is usually good reason these areas have been undeveloped, often because access is limited and the terrain is very rugged. These areas are often 100, 200, 300 square miles, and are open to the public (assuming you can get in). Not sure if he specifically said where he was in Idaho, but one of the largest designated wilderness areas in the contiguous states is Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness which is 3700 square miles or so, in Idaho.
Several years ago on one of the Sportsman channels, there was a show that ran several years called "Sasquatch - Mountain Man." Looks like it still might be viewable on Pluto TV. He hunted with bow and traditional muzzleloader.... it's good to see somebody trusting these types of guns for real in the hunting/shooting media.

Well, you missed him constantly carrying a capped muzzleloader muzzle forward with his hand over the muzzle with the hammer down on the cap. Eventually, on camera, it snagged on brush and blew some of his fingers off.... Other than that stuff it seemed ok.
dang. blowed his fingers off. ugh that ain't good at all.Well, you missed him constantly carrying a capped muzzleloader muzzle forward with his hand over the muzzle with the hammer down on the cap. Eventually, on camera, it snagged on brush and blew some of his fingers off.
But, all that said, it was kind of a breakthrough series to show traditional arms as real effective hunting tools.
At the time it beat Cabelas catalogs stating that roundballs were for "plinking" and the other falsehoods the modern muzzleloader mfgs and retailers were pushing to sell their products. While not perfect, it probably did more good than harm.
Hope he was good at doing math in his headdang. blowed his fingers off. ugh that ain't good at all.
