I want to sell one of my tc rendevous so I can get a kentuck kit...this has been one of the weapons I have cleaned up for going to rendevous and shoots etc...I would rather sell it complete to fellow blackpowder enthusiast so it will still be shot and hunted rather than parted out on Ebay etc.
Its a 70s model stock and hardware...I put a newer 90s barrel on it after the original wore out...it is a browned finish...the stock has been carved to a more authentic style of an 1830s converted hawken...a "poor boy" finish called by some...with a hand rubbed oil coating...it has some pretty dark streaks in the walnut...hidden by the original tc factory finish...the brass has all been allowed to patina...the lock and trigger mech are in perfect condition...the ramrod is a hand carved white oak that is flamed and oiled...the gun shoots 70 grains of fff bp with a tc maxi hunter well enough for me to hit a tennis ball at 50 yards...it shoots a patched round ball well too with 50 grains for a fun shooter.
I am willing to sell it to a good home delivered in USA only for 500 bucks...

The pics were taken yesterday afternoon and this morning...

I have more pics if neccesary...thank you

Price is firm...also shipment will be in 2 parcels to avoid any problems(barrel and ramrod in one, lock and stock etc. In 2nd)...thank you

If you mean the "monte carlo" type...no it does not...it was carved off to match a rifle it was being patterned after...i can make another pic if you like

The way it's explained is confusing to me. It was re-carved, but the original TC finish is on it? It doesn't look patchy to me so I don't get it.

The pictures reflect what was done...basically I tried to make the rifle appear as an 1830s hawken that was converted to percussion from flintlock...as was the case in many rifles once the percussion locks were introduced in the late 1820s....this is one of three tcs I have like this for rendevous...one the twin to one being sold the other a flinter.

The finish thompson put on their hawkens etc had a reddish brown pigment in them to make the units all have the same apoearance...u fortunately it covered up some of the natural walnut beauty...I imagine so when they shipped to dealers there was a sort of uniformity??
I have owned quite a few and found lots of pretty wood under their original finish.

Here are a few more details...as you can see its not a bowling ball finish intentionally...but one you would have found on a rifle of this era actually used by a mountain man...

Price is based on $450 for rifle plus whatever shipping is.

2 parcels will be more than one(probBly 50 bucks) ...but some folks due to local post office may not want it in 1 package...buyers choice...

TC measured the barrel to the breechplug. It's 28 inches. Some people add the plug and get 29 inches.

The barrel measures from the crown to the seam of the breech plug exactly 29 inches...the threads are maybe 3/8"...a ramrod placed in an unloaded barrel is 27&1/4" deep...29 inches is what they have called their barrels as far back as I know(50 years) and in front of a charged barrel with a standard conical bullet is of course less...probably 1 &3/8" less...

Whatever you say. Every TC, Midway, Midsouth, Dixie etc. etc. catalog I've ever had lists them as 28 inches and the barrel I just retrieved from the bedroom measures exactly 28 inches to the breechplug seam and just shy of 29 if you count the breechplug.

Have never seen a 29” TC Hawken barrel, just as @bubba.50 states, they were all 28” (Renegade’s were 26”), with maybe an additional 7/8” to the end of the breech plug. For reference, grabbed an old TC catalog (1980) and yep, they were 28”. See below.
