Like to here from guy's who use this ramrod,I seen it on e bay for $9.99 tought I jump on it they seem to sell for a lot more

Many of my customers started out with one of these (believing advertising hype) unfortunately.
What has happened more often than not the polymer will ware off and you are left with an unprotected fiberglass rod. Where the coating has been rubbed off the fiberglass will be scuffing on the inside of the barrel. As glass is much harder than steel this can, and often does, scratch the rifleing.

Toomuch
...........
Shoot Flint

LW, they're the best things since sliced bread...I must have a couple dozen of them in the Range Rod version with wooden ball on top...been using them for 15 years, and every weekend at the range for the past 5 years...outstanding rods in every respect.

They were one of those rare good things that a company makes for a while then discontinues...a Fox Ridge staff and I were talking it about it just last year and she said they often get asked if they're going to make them again but she doesn't have any idea...the thing that hurt their sales of the Range Rods was the price of $35 + shipping.

Year before last I found a small private "garage business" on the Internet that was going under and bought 10 spares for $9 apiece so I'm set for range rods for as long as I'll probably shoot muzzleloaders

I remember when you were looking for these t/c rods RB,so looks like I got a good deal on it @ it will fit my hawkens barrel 28"
I was at the range last week RB and was piss off a little was shooting 50 yards with my t/c flinter ,got 4 RB's that touched and the next shot was about 3/4 inch to the left of the (great)groupe :hmm:

TC came out with the polymer covered rods after I had bought some Cougars, and their rods were terribly flimsy so I bought some of the polymer underbarrel rods...dark charcoal grey color with stainless tips (Cougar furniture)...before I hardly used them I replaced them with solid stainless rods to get more weight out under the barrels...still have the like new poly rods with stainless tips...figured I could always cut the ball seating ends off at 5" and epoxy the cut off ends into wooden balls for non-abrasive short starters.

Sounds like you really are dialed in with that Flintlock :hatsoff: keep up the good work man!

Roundball , I have a rod for my .50 T/C that I ordered from them about 1973 after I broke the wooden rod that came with my Hawken. It looks like wood and if I remember correctly they said it it was IMPREGNATED WOOD. It has been great-- very tuff. Do you know anything about these? Havent seen anything like them in years. :hatsoff:

Thise were the best...they were "resin impregnated" wooden ramrods...made by a special pressurizing process similar to the way "treated lumber" is made going through high pressure chambers...the manufacturing line at TC's NH plant was destroyed by the big plant fire back in the 90's and TC didn't rebuild it, vendored out ramrod work instead (along with the stock work).
I still have a few spares...bought up some when I heard they would no longer be made...stiff, strong, virtually unbreakable...best wooden rods I've ever seen.

Two of my T/C ML's have this ramrod. For $9.99, you can't go wrong. I would have bought it, but do not shoot any of the ML's, that it is for!

RB I can't understand why someone wouldn't pick this up (especialy T/C). This is a super rod, tuff and looks like natural wood.I love it. :hatsoff:

I agree...it has to get down to the issue of cost/profit...probably a lot cheaper to run off lengths of black aluminum rods, drill & tap the ends than it is to completely reinvest/rebuild the manufacturing line necessary for those resin impregnated wooden rods...price would probably be very high and with the focus so much away from the traditional market now, doubt they'd ever sell enough to recoup their investment much less make a profit...too bad
