Thoughts on pedersoli 20 gauge indian trade gun

Just aquired a pedersoli 20 gauge/ 62 cal smoothbore and looking forward to working up some loads for it. Was suprise at the size of the lock, but seems like my smaller flints will work using the lead wrap that came with it.
Wondering what everyone's take on this flinter? Have several rifled flinters in diffrent calibers.

Oh some folks will be along to pooh pooh it because it's not a bench copy of a 'real' NW trade gun. But I like mine. Kills game. That's good enough for me.

Lol, well, i didn't aquired it to be politically correct, i got it due to my desire to have and shoot/ hunt with a smoothbore. Are you pushing just RB or are you using it for multiple size game?

Mine has taken some critters.

Mine came with a badly ground frizzen. I had to grind it some and reharden it. I also fitted a lighter frizzen spring. I opened the vent a shade too. All good now. Quite fast lock.

I know you said this, "tongue in cheek", but for any newcomers who aren't familiar with some of the acronyms we use on the forum, "PC" stands for, period correct. Period correct means the item was in use at some point in history. A slotted head screw is PC for 1776. A Phillips head screw is not.

Itsa good looking gun, and everyone I’ve seen was a gun one could be proud of.
the first one I saw i had just built a NWG from Track of the Wolf. It was a little more correct but it had no features that would make it stand out. You will be very happy with your purchase.

Interesting learning curve without a rear sight. 50 paces using 70 grains 3F, 4 out of 8 rounds after 2 shots to figure out roughly the cheek weld. Thinking i got a full summer of weekend practice to smooth out the learning curve.
