They are all 42" barrels. Actually, the top one has been shortened approx. an inch. It and the second one have had the cocks replaced at some point with a later style. The top one is marked with 17th regiment markings. The 17th had a lengthy war time history, arriving in time to take part in the Boston operations. Part of the unit surrendered during the war, and the remaining soldiers were at the surrender at Yorktown. The bottom Bess is marked with XX regiment markings. The 20th reg't arrived in Quebec in 1776 and took part in the campaign to split the colonies under Burgoyne. That entire unit surrendered at Saratoga in 1777. That's it in a nutshell. This is off the top of my head, so I may off on the details.Great looking Bess's! What barrel lengths on those '69's? Have you any details about those regiment histories?
