Hello all. For you early lock enthusiasts, I thought I would post this pic while I had all three in my possession. :haha: Long guns will be built using all three. From top to bottom:
1) #614 Mid 17th Century Spanish Miquelet Lock.
2) #579 Late 16th Century English Snaphaunce Lock.
3) #685 Early 17th Century Swedish Snaplock.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking. Rick. :hatsoff:

OK.
I'll show my ignorance. :)

What's the big round blob that's in line with the pan on the lower two locks?

I've seen a lot of photos of various pre-flintlock firelocks but I've never seen anything like that before.

Seems to me that is kinda like putting an Edsel grill onto a classic model T.

Oh well. Can't fight progress, I guess. :(

If you look at the Dutch style Snaphaunces, that was a common design feature. It does help keep the flash contained in the pan.

So how long did you have to wait to get them?, or did they have them in stock?. Btw, they are very nice looking locks.

Hello all. Thanks for looking.
The Spanish Miquelet I ordered direct from TRS. Received it in one week. The only reason I received it that quick was a collector friend was there visiting (friends with the owner) and called me from there and asked if I wanted anything. He owed me a favor, and the owner owed him a favor. So that's why I got it in a week vs six months. :haha: Having a rifle built with this one next month.
Believe it or not, I found BOTH the Snaphaunce and the Snap Lock on line at the famous buy/sell Site we are all familiar with. Still can't believe I found them there. Both had a Buy Now price so I grabbed them. Rick. :hatsoff:
