I have a false muzzle .45 cal. rifle and I want to turn my false muzzle into a three strip paper patches bullet gun? the rate of twist is 1/22, can anybody help me out with how to load this way? Thanks Hank

you should get and read Ned Roberts book "the caplock muzzleloading rifle"

You will need to have a strip patch die made to fit over the top of your false muzzle.
It will have cut outs in the top that the patch strips lay in over the top of each other.
On top of that will be a bullet starter.
In practice false muzzle goes on,than the patch die then the bullet starter.
The bullet is set in the top of the starter and short started down through the strip patches, false muzzle into barrel muzzle than run home with a range rod through the whole works.
This system mechanically patches and aligns the bullet the same each time as it pass down through the various stages into the barrel muzzle.

Excellent description Thanks.

The stirrup on the false muzzle is for fastening it to the barrel and the lollipop on the top is a sight block so you don't forget to remove and shoot it down range.
