Hello from GE,

this weekend one of the biggest Rev.War. reenactments in the Germany takes place at the palace of Eichenzell near Fulda/Hessia. There you can see reenacting groups of the leased troops of Hessia-Darmstadt, Hessia-Kassel, Hessia, Ansbach-Bayreuth and others which fought for the British. further more Royal Marines and their opponents of US the Militia and Minutemen and Indians. The time table is as follows:

Saturday, 11th of august:

10 a.m.: Entry allowed for the public, viewing the camp life, weapons, drill, recruting, field parade.

03 p.m.:combat exercise, The Battle of Saratoga 1777.

Sunday, 12 th of august:

as Saturday.

Further more the public can have a view to the lifestyle of aristocrats at the palace of Eichenzell in the 18th century.

I'll take part as a member of the 2nd company of the 14th Albany County Militia (irregular). Our group has 24 members and an indian scout.

Post pics as soon as I'll be back.

Regards

Kirrmeister

It's amazing to me that peoples from other countries are re-enacting the American Revolution. I'm sure that most of them know more about our 18th century history than the average American.

Sounds like fun Kirr. Looking forward to the pics. GW

im going to guess that most of the revolution soldiers ,were either immigrants or first generation or son`s and daughters--of-- so ,that aspect of American history belongs to all.

You are right. Most of the german settlers in the Mohawk Valley emmigrated from Germany because of economical, but also political dissatisfaction in the beginning 18th century.
Right now I came back from the reenactment. At both days there were about more than 1000 spectators, 200 military reenactors and about 50 reenactors, who reenact aristocrats from Hessia.
Soon me and rs.black will post pics.
