Talked to a couple club members about this, I have always struggled with this part of making a horn. I have two options given to me.....1, file a flat on opposite sides, repeat OR 2, chalk out my pattern and work each flat down a bit at a time.

This is on a Buffalo horn, I printed off some pics from the board of a couple amazing examples (sorry forgot who made those  ) they look octagonal in the flats.

Any tips or ideas? Thanks, Trent

When I did the octagon tip on my buffler horn I used a fine flat file and started by filing four sides square and then knocking the corners off, Go slow and keep your file flat you should be fine

Either method will work!..I like to mark all lines and start on one flat re-marking it as I work around the horn with my file. Then I final scrape, steel wool and wax. TAKE YOUR TIME!

Go slow and check it often and try to visualize where you want to go with it. Keep and eye on the uniform thickness around the spout hole. :v
