Today's find worth it?

While doing some running around I found a pietta pistol.

I'm pretty sure it's the one from the link but it doesn't have a model stamped on it. It is 36 cal

The cylinder looks very clean but it is missing the screw that holds the lever to the plunger part that pushes the ball in the hole. So you can't load the balls. That should be replace able for $10 or less.

At first i thought it was a 1858 but after looking at some pics that's not what it is.

Worth $150? I'm thinking I might be able to talk him down at least the price of the screw.

Its a Spiller and Burr revolver used by the South during the Civil War. From what I hear and read they are good shooters and hold up well for a brass framed gun. Still need to lighten powder charges a bit but they last longer than the Colt brassers. I'd say $150 is a good price for one and I'd jump on it if I were you.

Well I went in today and picked it up.





Got it for $125 and I already found a replacement screw. I repair copiers and looking in my old box of screws I found some with machine treads and color.

Can't do a full cleaning or anything right now I am at work. But did some searches and found out how to take it all apart. Took out the cylinder for inspection.

I don't think it has every been fired. I'm seeing no rust or discolor in the cylinder or barrel and very little wear on the cylinder where it spends and I might have done those.

My wife started calling me Yanky traitor because I had bought pistol used by the north. Now maybe that will change.
