Hi, I'm looking for a tomahawk for a 13 y/o for christmas. I ordered the british tom from TOTW but they don't have any in stock. I would like one with the flat "hammer" on the back side. Looking to spend about $25 - $40. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks, Kurt/IL

Jas Townsend & Son, Inc. has some tomahawks in their catalog. You might try their website and see it the ones they have are what you are looking for.......hope this helps..............Harold

I made a hawk for my son when he was eight, modified a camp hatchet by cutting away most of the weight with a torch, stocked it with hickory. He threw in competition the summer he was nine , and was throwing single and double cruisers axe when he was eleven, knife came along about then, you cant start them too young.

You might Google "Fort Turner Tomahawks", which will take you to that website. Theirs tend to be a tad less expensive that H&B Forge's (which are also great). Turner 'hawks have thinner blades, for what it's worth, than H&B.

The Gun Works carry several hammer head hawks. All are hand forged. I do believe that they are 3J brand. One is 12 oz and the other is 16. Here is a link:

I have 30 3J hawks that I use for the Boy Scouts. They are good looking, and take the abuse a 13 year old can dish out. All you will need to do is shorten the handle.
