Here is one I made from a 24oz ball peen hammer. It is a combined copy of 2 that are shown in the book American Indian Tomahawks.
This is the first curly ash handle I have used. I was not sure how to finish it and make the curl pop like maple. I have always heard that aqua fortis would turn woods like oak black. So I thought what the heck I tried it anyway. It came out a nice brown. I guess ash and oak are not that close kin.

Super fine!!! I like what the Aqua Fortis did to the ash. I've tried it on hickory but it did not do much. Great Hawk! #2 is in the works here.

I can't wait to see your #2 This was the first time I have ever tried aqua fortis on anything other than maple or cherry.

I'm gonna run out to the garage and try it on a piece of osage! See the trouble your causing. Soon all the wood in my house will have AF stains on it  !

Let us know how the osage turns out. Sounds like you have the same problem I have. The " I wonder how that would turn out if....." thing.
