Hi to everyone, I'm thinking of making a hawk and have done some forging in the past. My quetion is, where can I get the metal incert that forms the hole for the wooden handle? I saw one in a black smiths cataloge a long time ago, so I know that they are out there, just where do I get one. Thanks for all the help. Eldo

The tool is known as a drift - you can make one 9not that hard) or buy them.
I like the one from Kayne and Sons since it's designed to fit the commercial handles available from Dunlap and others. https://www.blacksmithsdepot.com/p...roduct/Forging_Tools_misc/Tomahawk_Drift.xml/

Hawkins Knifemaking Supply also carries a similar drift made for the commercial handles and also offers the handles in various woods and grades http://www.hawkinsknifemakingsupplies.com/7.shtml
scroll down to the bottom of the page for drifts and handles - the standard size drift is the one you want for most projects...
