I'm looking for a traditional alternative to the Treso-type worm and screw arrangement that are ubiquitous today.

A few years ago I saw a patch worm that somehow attached itself to the end of a bare wooden ramrod, but I don't remember where it came from.

Does anyone have any information on how "they" attached patches for cleaning, and where to get something similar today?

Track Of The Wolf sells the "Primitive" Patch worm...

Patch worm

They're nothing but a tapered coil spring, the deeper you screw it on, the tighter it grips the ramrod...

you can make on from a 5/16 rod ...tahe a hacksaw and split down the middle for and inch and a half heat and sperd open then file the so called arms round. take a pair of needle nose and twist the arms up and around to makle the worm. use you hacksaw to cut the 5/16 round a 1/2 inch below the top part. cut a shaft to be threaded to fit your rod...
clear as mud right :results:
