Howdy everyone -

I have a nice Investarms Hawken in .54 but I have never liked the stock sights that it came with. The rear sight wiggles too much and the notch is too wide for my tastes.

I would like to replace the stock sights with more traditional sights. What would you recommend for sights that have a nice traditional feel and that would help provide good hunting and target accuracy?

Many thanks.

I use the stock primitive sights that came with it new. Non-adjustable (except by drift).

Investarms makes Lyman, so you should be able to find something on line, with pictures. You didn't mention whether or not you wanted an adjustable sight? Perhaps a peep?

If you mean a rear sight like this one, it is available from Track of the Wolf or Dixie.
This is on my TC Hawken which doesn’t come with a dovetail at least you have one already.

I would love to find a traditional folding tang peep sight that would fit the Investarms Hawken, but assumed that no such thing existed. The modern Lyman peep has no appeal to me whatsoever.

The buckhorn sight also looks good. I'll check into that if I can not find a traditional peep.

How is your rear sight held in place ? Is it held on with a dovetail cut or by 2 screws ?

I don't actually know, and I don't have the rifle with me at the moment to check, although in an earlier post someone said the Investarms Hawken sight was held in with a dovetail cut.

Hello,

I was checking out new sights for my CVA last night.

Brownell's has a LOT of them, and I think I've made my selection. Just need the money now... but they do have the traditional style, too.

Been thinking about making a traditional style target front from a Mosin-Nagant sight. I think it will dovetail correctly; I just have to find the sight I have laying around here to try it!

What sights do you have on it now?

Thanks,

Josh

I have an Investarm .50 percussion carbine 1 in 48. The rear sight is held on by two screws, and IIRC it is not the same hole spacing as the TC.
On the other hand, the Lyman which is also made by Investarm has a dovetail notch for the rear sight.
The Cabela "Hawken" type rifles, which I think are made by Investarm, appear to have the rear sight that is held on by screws.

My investment arms hawkins sights were origionally mounted with two screws. I made plates for them that mount in the origional holes that are dovetailed and set the rear sight about two inches further up the barrel. I have an extra plate so if you are interested send me a P.M with your email and I'll send you some pictures. ( I have too much trouble with the photobucket to try to post the pictures here )

You are grabbing the 'HTML Code" and pasting it into your forums post.

Move your cursor down to the bottom selectable line called the "IMG Code" and copy that. Then paste it into your post and everything will work as it is supposed to.

I have the stock sights on it now. Not very satisfying, truth be told..
