Was talking to someone at Traditions today and they have a new sidelock coming out sometime in August ( I'd suspect it will be a few months after august).

Its a good looking rifle and at a stout 8+ lbs. Nice blade sights that I should be able to see fairly well. Nice long 32" barrel with a 1:48 twist. If its anything like my Woodsman Hawken, It will be a solid shooter.

The Traditionsâ„¢ Mountain Rifle maintains the classic styling and handling of time-honored sidelock rifles, while offering great performance and affordability. The Mountain Rifle Kit is a .50 caliber percussion rifle with a longer 32" octagonal white barrel. The rifle has an overall length of 48" and weighs 8.15 lbs.

Nice looking rifle, wonder what the price point is going to be.

Cva mountain rifle with some different colored hardware. Same basic shape. Cap box may have a different shape, but it is the same basic platform from the same Spanish factory.

The manufacturer's (Ardesa) web site shows a very similar rifle which they call their Hawken. Two barrel keys and similar styling minus the cap box. On second look it appears to be a "knock off" of the Lyman GPR. Especially how the stock transitions to the nose cap. The model in the Op, does appear to have have a nose cap like the CVA Mtn Rifle. Ardesa makes some nice guns that traditions never offers here. Darn shame.

Looks normal to me and the other traditions rifles I have. Should be fine, especially after raising the rear sight up. That front sight is tall and will need filing down, along with rear sight adjustment.
