To be honest with you, Traditions is not the highest quality muzzleloader rifle. Rather than trying to convert yours, which is iffy and going to require probably not just the parts but inletting and mating to lockwork for same. It's going to be a much bigger project than you're imagining. Best off, IMO, to just aquire a new Kentucky-style rifle that already has double-set triggers. Pedersoli makes one such, and if you're into kit building, the Kibler Southen Mountain Rifle is in the same ballpark:

.... and it's better than the Pedersoli.

If I remember correctly,(that doesn't happen all the time) The tumbler on that lock does not have a fly. That can create some problems with set trigger.
Yoh are correct. Since the set trigger "flicks" the sear to release it, the fly is needed to keep the sear from catching the half cock notch. The lock will need to be changed.

On a side note, not to hijack OP’s thread but, is there a single trigger better than the stock trigger for the Kentucky that will drop in that is better and isn’t floppy?

I have an older Jukar rifle which is the same as Tradions. The Gun Works has parts including a tumbler and fly for pretty reasonable. I bought a spare set of springs for my lock from them. My lock benefited a lot from polishing all the surfaces that rub. Mine also like to be well lubed. Doing this has given me a very smooth trigger that is not too heavy.

If you are having problems with a heavy trigger pull I may have a way to help but I need to see a picture of the trigger assembly to see if it will work. I took an old CVA colonial from an impossible trigger pull to about a 3 pound pull using the stock trigger.

There was a little screw on this sear that made the trigger lighter. I was just wondering if a double set would fit

I have one of those locks on an old pistol kit. May have an extra of that tumbler screw and spring would have to look tomorrow. They used a couple different trigger set ups and their is one that I can modify just the trigger to get a 2 to 3 pound trigger pull from the stock trigger with no changes on the LOP

you can trash the old trigger and buy a trigger from track of the wolf and pin it through the stock higher and it will lower the trigger pull as I did for my grandsons traditions

with the right load you can make them shoot 100yrd sight in target

I have the Traditions Kentucky (flint) and with the stock lock I get just under 3 lbs. pull, which is as light as I want to go . I added a CVA bridle and polished all lock parts. Added a spring to trigger so no floppy flop.
