This just a general question. I usually use pins to fasten my trigger guards. I've seen a number of rifles that use screws on the tail end of the guard and I was wondering if this is a regional thing, builder preference or a feature that can be used to date an original rifle?

Guards with screws at the rear are perhaps found more often on early guns. But it seems to be regional as well to some extent. No easy rules. I think that a guard with a rear acanthus-shaped finial looks good with a screw in the "mass" of the finial.
