Just guessing here, but you want to keep/stop young folks or the inquisitive hands of folks unfamiliar with firearms away from messing with the gun(s)?does anyone know where I can get a trigger lock for a flintlock. Thanks
If that's the case I feel really stupid!I think he is asking about a trigger assembly.
Why are we stupid? He said lock! We are not mind readers. No disrespect intended at the poster.Just guessing here, but you want to keep/stop young folks or the inquisitive hands of folks unfamiliar with firearms away from messing with the gun(s)?
A "trigger lock" won't stop the lock from being cocked, and if stored in a cocked position the main spring can come under stress and with flintlocks the sharp edge of the rock is exposed.
I trained my kids from a very early age about the use and care of guns,, but I always did maintain that extra level of security/safety in my home with all the guns.
I did pretty much what Flanders advised above.
All the guns where rendered unusable with partial disassembly of key functioning parts.,, the traditional guns had the locks removed and stored in a different area, CF guns had bolts or firing pins removed.
It was no secret from the kids, they even knew where those items where, but it did/would have required several stages of "assembly" before the gun was able to fire. Doing so remove the casual "load a charge an shoot, or "drop a bullet/pull the trigger" aspect of handling the thing. I simply removed the possibility of an unintended impulse action youth or un-trained.
Hope this helps.

I agree, we call the firing assembly a lock, it’s not a stretch to call the trigger assembly a trigger lock. I’ve heard it called a trigger group before, but I’ve always called it a trigger assembly. Why are we stupid? He said lock! We are not mind readers. No disrespect intended at the poster.
