I picked up a used Flint Trapper pistol tonight.Looks to be in great shape and it was a good deal. The only problem I have found is with the set trigger. When "cock"the rear trigger and the pull the fron trigger to fire the gun, about half way through the pull the fron trigger clicks and then it feels as though it is firing unset. Is there a way through the trigger adjustment to remedy this? I am not farmiliar with these adjustments and there was no manual with it.

Thanks,
Scott.

I have one of these, but not right here with me so I'm working from memory. Was this a kit gun?
You'll want to drop the trigger assembly out of the stock to adjust it. Run the small headless screw in front in and out to see how it does its job. I believe the other screw changes the tension on the driver spring. That one usually does not get out of adjustment, but if it was a kit gun, who knows?
If the assembly works when its out of the gun, look for inletting problems: wood binding, mostly.
Hope this helps,
Moose

There are two adjustment screws. One is between the triggers and adjusts the trigger pull weight. The other is behind the rear trigger, under the trigger guard. It adjusts the set trigger itself.

I'm not sure if I understand the problem you're having, but it sounds as if the rear screw isn't adjusted right. Remove the trigger guard and turn the rear screw (I don't remember which direction) until the rear trigger no longer sets. Then slowly turn the screw the other direction until the triggers set the way you want them. Then you can adjust pull weight with the forward screw.

I'm not sure if the forward screw could be causing the problem or not. Mine actually vibrated itself out of the hold and fell into the trigger group, causing the hammer to drop unexpectedly. You might start the procedure by adjusting the front screw until the forward trigger, firing unset, has about 8 lbs pull or so. That's what mine came from the factory with. Mine also came adjusted so it wouldn't set and I needed to adjust the rear screw to make it work.

When you get it adjusted the way you want it, Locktite the screws in place. I learned that the hard way! :)

I backed the screw behind the rear tigger out about a turn and the set trigger works fine now.
I will be off to the range this afternoon to fire it.

Thanks again,
Scott.
