I'll leave before day in the morning enroute my home area of the mountains of North Georgia right up on the North Carolina line for opening day of bear season Saturday! I'll be alone...I much prefer to be alone in the woods :winking:.

I'll walk in a half mile or so from the road and set up my wedge camp, then early Friday morning I'll take off up leads and down through hollows dragging my scent rag behind me for about 3,maybe 4 miles.Heck,I'm in my late 60's now,so I can't cover territory like I could a year or so ago  .

Then, if all goes well, I'll get a chance probably late Saturday afternoon. 'Course I'll hunt Saturday morning also, but I've always seemed to have better luck just about dusky dark!

For a scent drag I've taken about a gallon of bacon grease (saved for me by a friend who has a small cafe),added one can of stinky seafood canned cat food,a couple ounces of anise extract, and about a cup of Mexican vanilla. I boiled a 3'square piece of heavy cloth attached to a small rope in this stinky stuff and that I'll tie around my waist and take off!

My weapon will be my new square breech .60cal straight rifled rifle shooting 80gr 3f GOEX with a 309gr PRB! One shot through the boiler room should do the trick :winking:.

Hey Rich, Waidmanns Heil, and think about it that you are in your late 60's and a bear can be very fast.
So when you see him that near, aim well or you can't enjoy the bock-beer that i will send to you.
