I want to dye my canvas weskit I just sewed, a brown like on the cover of the second book of The pilgrams journey by Mark Baker, a good huntin' color!
Anybody have thoughts on this
:hatsoff:

Hay cookie,
When you say warmer do you mean darker??
What kind of tea should I use?
:hmm:

Use the cheapest tea you can find at the grocery store-you might also consider a mordant prior to dyeing-I use 1 pound of salt, a gallon of vinegar,a gallon of water-mix until salt is dissolved-immerse fabric in mordant-wring well(I wring it back into the same bucket, use it again)-then put fabric in dyebath-stir a couple of times a day-when it looks "right", leave it for a few more days....wring it out, lay or hang to dry-then, mix about 2 cups of baking soda into the washer and run the fabric thru the wash/rinse cycle-this will neutralize the acids in the dye....also for golden brown, you can use pecan hulls if you can find them-met some guys from South NM who had access to pecan hulls-I've used them and it gives a nice warm golden brown...hope this helps..Mitch
