THat's Boulder down there.

I'm gonna go lower next week, but there's lots of private land there.

I hunt the south side of this mountain, and the snow is still 2-3 feet deep.

i have seen a big flock at the main intersection in masonville a week ago.

I saw three of em walking down the sidewalk on Ford St. in Golden a couple weeks ago. :shocked2:

THey're gonna be low, the snow is too deep for feeding. I'm going up again next week, Mike, I'll keep you posted. I'm gonna try Flagstaff, that's where I found them before.

We've got them on our five acres. Had a nice tom with five-inch beard just off the back deck and the dogs jumped him. I love watching them fly. It seems like they go in a straight line, pick a tree and crash into it!

Mike, looking forward to your reports

I'll be out in Gunnison country most of next week, but want to get into the area south of 285 when I get back. It's gonna end up being a long walk to scout the area in mind.

pretty country mike. I went scouting last weekend and today. all told have seen about 20 birds. a couple of big Toms,a few jakes and hens, our season opens next weekend Stay tuned for pix (I hope) :idunno:

You easterners are lucky! THat country in those pics is very rugged, I haven't been in there in years. Might be too tough on this old man.
The place where I'm standing is where I got my first ever buck. Man! That was a long time ago!!

I just got back from scouting down lower, and nothing. I went to where Flagstaff Road ends, it used to be four-wheel drive from there to Magnolia, but the county has closed it with signs saying something about re-growth area. :cursing: Just another excuse to close roads and keep out the hunters. The People's Socialistic Republic of Boulder County strikes another one for liberalism.
Went back up higher, busted three does, and called quite a bit in three different areas. TOo early.
Shot "Sweet Caroline" into snow banks, and got an idea of the pattern, looked pretty good. Nothing scientific about what I did, just having fun. The gun has a hesitation between the pan igniting, and the gun going off, I might open the flash hole a bit, but I want to shoot it more. I can't remember who suggested this load to me, but it was about 70 grs. of 2F, a felt wad cut in half, 85 grain measure of #4's, and an overshot card. Worked well as far as I could see.
Forgot the camera.
