Picked up a really nice underhammer .32 pistol from TOTW. What would be a reasonable max load of fffg and a prb? I'm thinking 20-25 grs. Thanks.

This is the pistol-

32 or 38 caliber? Your link is to a 38 caliber gun. Either way I’d start with 12 to 15 grains of 4F or 3F and work up a few grains at a time until I got the accuracy I wanted. For reference I use 12 to 15 grains of 4F or 3F under a patched 1-1/2 buck in my 32 caliber rifles. Accurate and similar performance to a 22 rim fire.

No apology needed. Only asked about caliber discrepancy because if you were ordering supplies swapping a roundball between a 32 and 36 caliber was either going to require hammer or a lot of patching, depending…..

I don’t have the charts or calculator in front of me at the moment, but remember when I played a bit with short barreled 32 caliber handguns neither 3F or 4F charges of 10-15 grains were theoretically consumed under a patched 1-1/2 buck in 5” or 6” barrels. Best/max charge comes down to accuracy at the distance you are shooting. Excess powder will be blown out of the bore adding to the muzzle flash.
