Fred :hatsoff:

What you have is a Wade Ingrahm underhammer action never seen one but I think it is a very good one

If you get around to it I would like to see how the trigger linkage on that action works i have always wondered if it is a sliding sear or is there somthing else I am not seeing if you can describe it I'd love to hear how it works

Hi All !!!

As this subject comes up now and then, I thought I’d throw my two cent’s into the ring..

My latest project is building a .50 caliber “Slug” Gun.. When finished, it will weigh in the neighborhood of sixty pounds and fire a “Picket” slug ignited from a percussion under-hammer action. At a Forty Rod (220 yd) range, I expect great things from it”¦

When I started this project, I had difficulty in finding info on these actions so, here are some web-site address’s that may help answer some of your questions and provide you with some details”¦ I myself am going to build my own action. Not hard once you see the drawings.

The first is a Underhammer Society (blog) that while very long, is a good read..

These other two are Gun builder sites with available actions”¦.

Good luck and keep us posted !!!

Wow! A 62 cal ball driven to 1700 fps by 175 grains of bp -- that has gotta smart on the shoulder.

Hey Oldnamvet !!!

Not really !!! That’s why the Bench and Slug gun barrels are so heavy.. They absorb all the energy !!! Just like shooting an M-16 (Plastic Rifle) only much heavier”¦

But the "Zephyr" 20 bore rifle they were referring to only weighs 7 3/4 lbs. :shocked2:

Yea, I agree with you there Buddy !!! You won’t catch me shooting that iron more than a few time’s a day !!! I saw they were drilling comp hole’s at the end of the barrel”¦ Kinda defeats the purpose, ya think ??

Walk the line at a real shoot and see what their using”¦

As the "ask him about uhs guy the last 6 years" I have never seen inside one of these,it slides I belive,BUT it is one of Wades and one of the better made ones (no put down on MRW ) as far as i know you can go thru someone and get one at a VERY right prics right now,or when I went into hospital or I would of got 2 myself. Oldmanvet your right on the ball, I got 3 62s, one is a Blue Goose barrel (I wouldn't even trust the breech plug I sent out to John Taylor)to fit a H+A you only shoot 5 shot groups once a day (on bench, and Goose well hes a house builder that was selling Deer Creek made guns and as I last pickeds up he had law problems...real nice guy told me H+A never made a 48" match 45, till I told him I was the "clown he was talkig about and he hung up without a good by! I sold it to a bud on here maybe he will run picks, all mine are out of the time frame. OH ya back to.. Wade makes one of the best and thats what you got. Fred :hatsoff:

Good Morning MRW and All,

MRW is correct about the Ingram action. Mr Ingram is a very long time member of the TMLRA and hails from Midland, Texas.

An old time gentleman of the first order, he no longer produces these actions or the complete rifle. At the June 2008 TMLRA Championships, he was selling the last of his actions.

His complete custom rifles or rifle built on his actions still grace the firing line at the TMLRA shoots and elsewhere in Texas.

Mr. Wade is a person that I truely always enjoy visiting and always listen for something to learn from him.

Best regards and good shooting,

John L. Hinnant

If you are not an NRA or NMLRA Member, why not? I am carrying your load.

Socialist/Liberal Politicians LIE!!! USA Freedoms DIE!!!!

Hi John !!!

Trying to get some contact info on these actions or find if there is still one available..

Thanks for any help !!!
