I am glad the States I hunt tick toters in allow the .40 caliber. I just don't see the reason for having to jump up to a .50 or bigger unless your using prb only. Some of my conical are up at 260 gr. with a wool wad over my powder load.

I've never owned or shot an underhammer, but they have intrigued me for a long time. As my home state of Minnesota gives indications of becoming "Condor Cali" regarding lead in ammo (special hunts now "no lead"), ignoring the complications for those of us using only traditional guns, I've considered acquiring a fast twist underhammer that I could use non lead slugs in. Aesthetically I see both beauty and ugly in them! Pretty cool. 🤩

If you go to the Under-Hammer & copper. You will have to anneal them or have to use a sleeve of plastic.

In the interest of expediency, and as a fair share of UH guns are switch barrels, I shall proceed with a barrel on hand. It's cva 54 me thinks. Stay tuned!
YES !!! I been wishing to myself the whole time while following this post that you'd make it a 54.
Do you plan to put a wood forearm stock on it?
