This a spectacular M1836 R. Johnson, dated 1842. It has been coated wiith some kind of preservative hence the brown color. The touch hole has NO burn and the bore is mirror bright. The frizzen has few strike marks. The cartouches and the edges are sharp. I figure this was the last of the M1836 and was arsenaled as soon at came from maker. Not many around like this one.

Crisp, unsanded lines around the lock etc. The vast majority of these guns are cracked in the area in front of the sideplate, and feature dings in the brass butt cap from striking nails etc. Not so with this one. Spectacular example!
