Last year I took a pistol as part of a trade for one of my rifles. I have no idea what it is other than .38 caliber percussion with target sights.
Any Idea what it is? What its worth?
There are no marks on the barrel or stock.

I wager that was someone's self build project from ordered parts and home cast metal caps. Not a looker but certainly a nice enough pistol.

Is that a false muzzle or is it just a visual feature?

Not sure if it's just for looks, I don't want to mess with it. I'll probably just put it on my trade blanket next time out.

That's part of the reason I hadn't shot it yet, I don't want a relationship with it I build guns so I've got lots to play with.

That is a neat looking target pistol!
Dump the ridiculous sights on it, put traditional sights on it and you would have a winner.
Yeah, I know that if you put a 10 power scope , and a laser range finder on any muzzleloader it will shoot much better, as well as be ready for the most recent Star Wars movie.
Call me GRUMPY!

I agree, dump the sights, put regular primitive sights.
That's all good but I think I'll just sell it and let the next guy do it.
I'm a flint guy anyhow.

Very nice pistol, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it definitely is a looker in my opinion, I do agree that the rear sight should be replaced though.

Ditto on the rear sight. I like the back action lock. What type of trigger and trigger pull does it have? You could put in a single set trigger- maybe.

It looks to me like an early reproduction pistol that might have been built in the 1950's and a well built one at that. It is also possible that it is an original 19th century target pistol, though it is in awfully good condition if not refinished. The rear sight simply doesn't fit though likely was an improvement over whatever was originally there.

It looks an awful lot like a LePage. Pedersoli made them. I realized just now the age of the post. oops, but the Pedersoli is high end
