I am a little confused on the use of buckshot with a .31 and a .36 revolver.

0 Buckshot .320 Diameter
00 Buckshot .330 Diameter
000 Buckshot .350 Diameter
0000 Buckshot .380 Diameter

Uberti Bore Diameters
CAL .31 Bore: 0.31 Groove: 0.325
CAL .36 Bore: 0.36 Groove: 0.379

I was under the impression that I could use 000 buckshot for a .36 revolver, but this apparently is not so. You can use if for a patched rifle though.

This Dixie table summarizes things pretty well I think.

Looks like I can use 0 buck for a .31, and 0000 buck for a 36 revolver.

Am I missing anything here? Hornady does not sell 0000 buck, anyone know who does?

It would be great if you could get some small quantities of the same shot you are planning to use just to try. Sometimes shot is somewhat harder than pure lead, Even so I would think the 0 buck would load in a .31. The 0000 at .380" might be difficult in a .36 if it's very hard. You could make a cylinder loading stand and spare the strain on your loading lever. once loaded, the shot will probably shoot just fine.

I used the 380 buckshot for many years in a 36 Navy with very good success. It was not that hard at all.

Before getting any size.Measure the cylinder chambers.
My Pietta .31 has chambers that are ,if I recall,.315 and a bore of .323.So it don't matter what size ball I use over .315.Of course, larger will permit a bit more bearing surface.
